Cuts Both Ways was created, printed and bound by Lizzy Arden in Michele Burgess’ Art of the Book course at San Diego State University’s Department of Art and Design in the spring of 2016
The text was digitally scanned and made into found poems from Jimmy Santiago Baca’s memoir A Place to Stand on Japanese Niyodo paper. There is a total of 66 found poems outlined with india ink. The illustrations, title page, and colophon are screen printed by hand with water based ink onto japanese paper. The pages are inserted into pages from Paul Goode’s, Goode’s World Atlas. The book was bound in japanese silk.
This edition is limited to 3 copies, each signed and numbered.
